Many Stories, One Body

The great diversity within Harvest makes our church a special place. We are not a niche church, catering to one demographic and tailoring everything we do to fit that target group. Rather, our body is composed of members from different countries, races, languages, neighborhoods, ages, income levels, and levels of spiritual maturity. Although this diversity brings unique challenges, we believe that it is a precious gift. We are a ragamuffin, motley group of individuals whom our Lord Jesus has called together to grow into a unified church. Therefore, each week we remind ourselves of the identity statement of Harvest Community Church: we are Many Stories United as One Body in Christ.

Our Context

Our City

The Omaha metro area, as of the 2020 census, boasts a population of nearly one million residents. According to Barna, Omaha also ranks number 34 in the top 100 post-Christian cities in America, as of 2019.

Our Body

Members of Harvest live throughout the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro area. Although some of our members live within walking distance to the church, many of our members come from places like Council Bluffs, Bellevue, Papillon, West Omaha, South Omaha, Elkhorn, and even Lincoln. Disciple Groups that meet during the week meet throughout the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro area so as to include all of our members.

Our Neighborhood

Harvest is located amidst several historic neighborhoods in midtown Omaha. The church is only 1 mile from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, 2 miles from Creighton University, and 2.5 miles from the University of Nebraska Omaha. Our location in midtown Omaha provides opportunities among college students, and numerous mercy ministry opportunities among residents in our community as well.

Our Aim

We regularly pray for our neighbors and neighborhoods, and one of our longterm goals is that the Lord would open doors for us to plant churches throughout the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro area.
