Sermon: Possessing the Farthest Borders (Joshua 16–17)

What happens when your gratitude and the joy of your salvation begin to sour? How should you fight the sin of entitled, demanding, bitter pride when you realize that you are surrounded with blessings, but you just want more and more and more?
This is a pretty common struggle in the Christian life, and it is what the story of the inheritance of the two tribes of Joseph (Manasseh and Ephraim) deals with directly in Joshua 16–17.
In this sermon, listen to the way in which the inheritance promised in the gospel of Jesus Christ teaches us about the lavishness of God’s grace and mercy toward us, as well as how to put the sinful attitude of bitter entitlement to death.
